Are the Apex Legends servers down?
The monitor above automatically checks to list the latest server status. The game is new with a large influx of players, this will naturally stress servers and especially as updates are put live regularly. With over 10 million players in a short space of time it is not surprising our checker has regularly detected issues.
Apex Legends Lag
- If you’re on PC, check your hardware, this can affect your FPS which will feel like lag. The recommended system requirements are AMD FX 4350 or equivalent, 8GB memory, Intel I5 3570K or equivalent. Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 / AMD Radeon R9 290 with 8GB GPU Ram, 30GB Storage & 64-bit Windows 7.
- Check your internet speed with an internet speed checker. Generally you want at least 3MBPS download speed, however this is still low with most speeds in the UK reaching at least 60MBPS.
- Reset the router. This can be a simple but effective remedy, especially if you haven’t reset it in a long while.
- Restart your PS4 or Xbox. If updates have dropped since your last connection, it’s worth trying a restart.
- Try not to throttle your bandwidth. The PS4 throttles bandwidth when things are downloading in the background, try not to download anything whilst you’re playing online.

Stuck on loading screen Apex Legends
Potential PC fix: You may have linked your steam account which seems to cause a bug with the loading screen spinning forever. Close down the game, go to Steam and link a new account to the game. Go back to Origin and hit play. During this bug we would recommend not linking your account.
PS4 and Xbox One: This has previously been down to not having the latest update installed. Try exiting the application and starting up again to get the latest version or even restarting your console.
Engine Error: 0x887A0006 – DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG The application’s device failed due to badly formed commands sent by the application. This is an design-time issue that should be investigated and fixed.
This is a known error on PC which causes the game to crash. So far this does not seem to be device specific and seems to be a bug with the game. Multiple reports of this from various locations.
